The Common Lime Butterfly (Papilio demoleus) is a widespread swallowtail butterfly. It is tailless unlike other swallowtails, with a wingspan of 80-100 mm. On the top it is black in colour with an irregular yellow band and numerous white spots, while the upper hind wing has a red tonal spot with blue edging around it.
It is known to have high environment tolerance and adaption to diverse habitats. The Common Lime butterfly is most often seen in the plains, hills, wooded areas and urban gardens, where the lava feed on plants of the Rutaceae family such as the wood-apple tree.
